Sony Reader is not turning ON.

If your Sony Reader is not turning ON, locked or frozen, try the following steps:
  1. Connect the Reader to a USB port of the Computer using the supplied USB cable or an AC outlet using an AC Adapter and leave it for approximately 5 or 10 min; then check if it turns ON by itself.
  2. If it does not turn ON by itself, slide the POWER switch and check. If it still does not turn ON, try resetting it. You can reset it when connected to the Computer or with disconnected.
  3. To reset the Reader, press the RESET button (labeled as RESET) using a pointed clip or the supplied Stylus. You can locate the RESET button at the rear or the base of the Reader depending on the model you're using.
  4. After pressing the RESET button, slide the POWER switch to the ON position and check if it turns ON.
  5. If the indicator light turns yellow, allow few minutes and check.
  6. If the indicator light is red when connected to the Computer or the AC Adapter, charge it fully and try turning it ON. (It takes approximately 4 hours to fully charge while using the USB connection and 2 hours while using the AC Adapter).
  7. If the Reader turns ON and the screen is frozen with the "Starting up..." message, try Hard Resetting it.
There are 6 models of Sony Reader and the Hard Reset procedure is different for all the models.
In case of PRS900 Reader, you can try removing the battery and then reinsert it after 1 minute. Then, try turning it ON and check.
If the problem is not resolved after performing the above steps, then it may be due to some internal issue in the Reader. You can contact Sony to get it serviced.
